Workshop Flow

We offer a package that includes a one-hour participant experience and a professional performance showcase.

Diverse and Unique Menus

Warm-ups
Sessions always begins with warm-ups, as they are essential to the taiko experience.
Basics
You will learn the basics of taiko drumming from holding the drumsticks (bachi), being in position, and striking the drum.
Playing with rhythms
The instructor will play various patterns of rhythms that you can copy. Utilize the basic practices to produce a good, loud, and clear sound.
Games
Various games will be played that will allow the participants to have fun while challenging yourself in reaching a goal.
Ensemble playing
The participants will be divided into several groups to play different rhythms as an ensemble.
Performance
The workshop will conclude with a full-scale performance by the professional taiko drummers who are teaching the workshop.

Professional Taiko Drummers
Leading the Workshop

Shunichiro Kamiya, one of Japan’s leading taiko drummers, director and composer, will serve as workshop instructor.

ASICS Union

Trade union members, many of whom are employees who have never met each other before. We held a non-verbal team-building activity using taiko drums.

Temple University Japan Campus

For the purpose of team building among students, a taiko workshop was held at a temple in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo. Students enjoyed playing games in pairs and groups while experiencing the traditional culture of taiko.
