This is a one-hour workshop to experience Japanese drum “Taiko” offered to corporations and municipalities. Workshop Flow
We offer a package that includes a one-hour participant experience and a professional performance showcase.

Warming-up
To avoid injury, prepare to move your body before playing the taiko. Warming-up is the most important part of the taiko experience.

Basic training
You will learn the basics of how to hold the drumstick, how to hold the taiko in position, and how to position yourself to strike and swing your arms. If you hit the taiko in a place where you can put your strength firmly, you can make a very loud and pleasant sound.

Rhythmical beat
The instructor will give you various patterns of rhythm and you will beat the drums based on them. Make use of the basic practice to produce a good, loud and clear sound.

Enjoy the game
In the game, you will imitate the phrases tapped by the instructor. It will start with the beginner’s level and end with the slightly more difficult advanced phrases. Challenge as much as you can to see how far you can keep up with the instructor.

Try an ensemble
Divided into several parts, everyone will play together in a large ensemble. Teamwork is required to be able to match everyone’s sound. Good teamwork brings the whole group together and creates a sense of unity.

Professional Performance
The workshop will conclude with a full-scale performance by the professional taiko drummers who are in charge of the workshop. After experiencing the taiko for yourself, watching the performance will be something special for your eyes.
